Rancho Santa Margarita & Lake Forest

Built in Lake Forest, installed in Rancho Santa Margarita

Rancho Santa Margarita is one of the most consistent install areas we have. We were working in this part of South Orange County before the freeway interchange at Antonio Parkway was finalized, and we had crews on the ground in nearby Coto de Caza as it was first being developed east of South Oso Parkway. Dove Canyon, Robinson Ranch, Trabuco Mesa, Las Flores, Wagon Wheel, Melinda Heights, and the older Brisa del Lago and Cantobrio tracts all sit in our regular rotation. Thousands of homes here have Golden West shutters in them, many on their second or third generation of ownership.

The typical RSM home gets bright light from multiple exposures, has large open-floor-plan windows in the main living areas, and pairs a 3.5-inch or 4.5-inch louver in white basswood for most rooms. The hillside homes near the Plano Trabuco edge with stronger afternoon sun sometimes step up to Polylux for the west-facing rooms.

Bay windows and arched accent windows show up in the Wagon Wheel and Las Flores tracts more than the newer Melinda Heights builds. We mill to the actual opening, not the nominal opening. Our 48-inch panel maximum covers the wider sliders and the two-story foyers without requiring a center mullion.

RSM is 15 minutes from our Lake Forest factory on the 241. Most full-home jobs ship and install in three to five weeks.

Common questions

Have you really been installing in RSM since the early days of Coto de Caza?

Yes. We were on the ground when Coto de Caza first began development east of South Oso Parkway, and we've installed in most of the surrounding RSM tracts since. Thousands of homes in this area have our shutters on the windows.

What's typical for a Dove Canyon or Robinson Ranch home?

Real basswood plantation in white, 3.5-inch or 4.5-inch louver, standard detail frame. For west-facing rooms near the Plano Trabuco edge with the strongest afternoon sun, we'll switch to Polylux.
