Coto de Caza & Lake Forest

Built in Lake Forest, installed in Coto de Caza

Coto de Caza is the gated, master-planned community east of Antonio Parkway in South Orange County. The homes here run larger than most of our service area: bigger lots, longer setbacks, more two-story foyers, more custom builds with arched accent windows that the original architect specified one at a time. A stock shutter set doesn't fit a Coto home. Everything has to be milled to the actual opening.

We've been working in Coto since the early development east of South Oso Parkway. Across The Estates, the Country Club homes, and the Sierra and Los Ranchos sections, the recommendation is usually real basswood plantation in white with a 4.5-inch louver, which suits the larger window scale of these homes. For west-facing rooms with strong afternoon sun, we'll often switch to Polylux to protect against heat and UV.

The two-story foyers in the larger Coto homes are where our 48-inch panel maximum and continuous-tilt-rod approach earn their keep. A foyer that looks like it needs three pieces of hardware ends up with two clean panels. Bay windows in the family rooms and primary suites get the same custom-angle treatment as Newport Coast and Nellie Gail.

Coto de Caza is 15 to 22 minutes from our Lake Forest factory, depending on traffic. We bring physical samples to every in-home consultation.

Common questions

Do you handle the larger custom homes in Coto's Estates section?

Yes. These are our most milled-to-spec installs. We measure every opening, mill panels to the actual frame, and dial in louver alignment on-spot. Two-story foyers and custom bay windows are standard work for us.

Why a 4.5-inch louver for Coto homes?

The larger window scale of these homes suits a wider louver. A 3.5-inch can look undersized in a Coto great room. The 4.5 gives the open-room feel that the floor plans were designed around.
