Carlsbad & Lake Forest

Built in Lake Forest, installed in Carlsbad

Carlsbad is the southern edge of our service area, about an hour and ten minutes from our Lake Forest factory. We don't drive down here on a whim. When we install in Carlsbad, the project is usually large enough to justify the trip, or it's a referral from a customer whose home we did up north years ago.

The Carlsbad homes we work in span the full range of the city's housing stock. Olde Carlsbad and Carlsbad Village have the 1940s and 1950s bungalows and cottages with original wood frames that need panels milled to the actual opening. La Costa and Aviara are the master-planned, larger-home areas with consistent floor plans and the kind of tall openings that benefit from our 48-inch panel maximum. Tamarack Beach and Terramar are the oceanfront and ocean-adjacent properties where salt air and UV push us toward Polylux or polyresin.

For oceanfront Carlsbad homes, Polylux is the default recommendation. The marine layer, the salt, and the western sun load are not kind to real wood over the long term. For inland La Costa and Aviara, real basswood plantation in white with 3.5-inch or 4.5-inch louvers is the typical choice.

Once we have a measurement, full-home jobs in Carlsbad ship and install in three to five weeks. The longer drive means we schedule the install for a single day with no return visit unless something specific needs follow-up.

Common questions

Do you really drive all the way to Carlsbad?

Yes. About an hour and ten minutes from our Lake Forest factory. We typically schedule Carlsbad installs as full-day jobs to make the trip count.

Why Polylux for oceanfront Carlsbad homes?

Salt air and unfinished wood eventually break the finish down at the joints. Polylux has a UV-stable composite shell over a hardwood core. It holds up indefinitely in marine conditions where real basswood will show wear.
