Encinitas & Lake Forest

Built in Lake Forest, installed in Encinitas

Encinitas is one of the more involved drives in our service area, about 53 miles down the 5 from our Lake Forest factory and roughly an hour depending on traffic. Encinitas homes split cleanly into five distinct areas: Old Encinitas with its coastal cottages and downtown blocks; Leucadia with the smaller bungalow stock and the Highway 101 corridor; Cardiff-by-the-Sea with its hillside bluff homes; Olivenhain with the larger semi-rural estates; and New Encinitas with the newer master-planned tracts.

For any ocean-facing home in Encinitas, we recommend Polylux or polyresin almost without exception. The marine layer, the salt air, and the daily UV are not friends of real wood, even with our ten-step finish. Polylux has the look and feel of wood with a UV-stable composite shell. It holds up indefinitely in coastal conditions.

For inland Olivenhain estates, the older Leucadia bungalows, and the New Encinitas tracts, real basswood plantation in white is the most-asked-for combination. Olivenhain often calls for the 4.5-inch louver to suit the larger custom-home scale. Leucadia and Cardiff bungalows respond better to the 3.5-inch.

The long drive means we schedule Encinitas installs as full-day jobs and try to bundle measurement and install across nearby SD County addresses where possible. Most full-home projects ship and install in three to five weeks.

Common questions

Why Polylux for ocean-facing Encinitas homes?

Salt air and unfinished basswood eventually argue. The wood drinks moisture, the finish gives up at the joints, and you end up with louvers that don't sit true. Polylux has a UV-stable composite shell that holds up indefinitely.
